A basic guide to repairing paintwork on your car

Providing the repair is superficial you should be able to key in the area with a scotch pad and clean with panel wipe to ensure the panels are clean.

Apply a high build primer if needed to fill slightly, and then sand using 400-600 wet and dry paper just to make sure you have a smooth surface before painting.

Allow primer to dry for 4 hours. (Depending on make)

Then apply 2 coats of paint, not too thick just to cover the area.
Allow to dry for 10mins between coats.

Leave for 30mins before applying lacquer.
Leave 20mins for 2nd coat.
A third can be applied.
This is based on 1K Clear Lacquer

Ensure when you come to do the work you are completely ready to finish it as it shouldn’t be left too long in primer or without lacquer.
Also wet and damp conditions will cause a problem so wait for a nice dry day.
